I love sharing powerful birth images – I believe that exposure can change the way the world views motherhood and birth. That said, your privacy is always my top priority. During our consultation, we’ll talk about your preferences and I’ll always respect your wishes. Every birth story is personal, and I’m here to honor your journey in whatever way feels right for you and your family.
I actually think this was my biggest concern the first time I hired a birth photographer, so I completely understand the concern about modesty. My approach to birth photography is always tailored to make my clients feel comfortable, beautiful, and empowered.
My goal is to capture your story in a way that reflects your strength and beauty – like the powerful goddess you are. I focus on getting the most flattering angles and moments that celebrate your journey, while keeping things tasteful and respectful. There are so many beautiful moments during birth that tell a story without sharing your body, too – the things around your room, labor tools that helped you focus, and biggest of all, the emotions.
I also take privacy very seriously. I will always respect your wishes regarding what images are shared publicly, and we can discuss any specific preferences you have around this. Ultimately, these images are yours, and you can share (or not share) them as you want!
While you can do everything to prepare for your birth, we all know that it doesn’t always go according to plan. In the event of a transfer or changing of circumstances, I will stay with you and continue documenting your birth story (as long as that’s what you want). It will be important for you to check with your care provider to find out what hospital you would be transferred to in case of an emergency and then contact them to find out their policy on photography in labor and delivery as well as the operating rooms.
Yes! Cesarean births are so powerful and it's an honor to tell those stories. Be aware that some doctors or hospital have policies against me being in the OR, but I’ve had many clients fiercely self-advocate and my presence has been granted.
